Update From Naomi—May 2024

“Why doesn’t your God speak my language?”

God used this startling question, from a Guatemalan Kaqchikel Indian, to help ignite a passion in William Cameron Townsend (pictured, left) for sharing God’s Word in local heart languages.  Townsend went on to invest more than 60 years in Latin America toward that goal, and founded SIL International, Wycliffe Bible Translators, and Jungle Aviation and Radio Service (JAARS).

Because of men and women like Townsend, and like you, Audio Scripture Ministries (ASM) is answering, “Yes! God does speak your language!”  When you pray and give, God uses it to share the Bible and Bible Engagement Resources in heart languages around the world.

ASM Latin America Directors, Jim and Jamie Loker, likewise have invested decades in Latin America, so that God’s Word—in heart languages—is shared.  Jamie met recently with Juan and his wife (pictured bottom-right, with Jamie).  In the 1950s, someone flew over a Zapotec language village dropping Gospel tracts, tracts that no one could read or understand because they were in Spanish.  A decade later, the first evangelist came, followed by the first linguist.  Juan helped the linguist learn the language, and they began the Zapotec Bible translation.

This man’s faithfulness, and the faithfulness of Jim and Jamie and the Mexico Team, has helped provide thousands of people with audio Bibles in local Zapotec languages.  Praise the Lord that they are hearing God speak their language!

Would you pray for those listening to God’s Word in their heart language right now,  that God would open their understanding to His life-giving Word?  Thank you.

Your faithful prayers and support make it possible to record and distribute God’s Word.  May God bless you and your family as you listen to, read, and share God’s Word!

Prayerfully and expectantly,

Naomi A. Frizzell

Executive Director
