As the ASM team arrived in a remote village in the Philippines, local church leaders were deeply moved. They had been praying for encouragement, longing for renewal, and wondering if anyone would come. When ASM Bible Engagement Director Tara Rye and her team stepped into the village, the local leaders said, “God has heard our prayers!”
For 40+ years, these leaders had served faithfully with little outside support. Churches had been planted decades earlier, yet no one had visited since the 1990s. Still, they kept going. Praying. Preaching. When Tara, her son Grant, intern Sarah, and Gospel Partner Hensel arrived to train them in Bible storytelling and discipleship, the response was pure joy.
This moment was the fruit of years of prayer and many small, faithful steps. Decades ago, one man walked hours through rugged terrain to bring the Gospel to this remote area.
“God convicted me: I need to go reach my people,” he said, recalling how he planted the first church in the region. That same faithfulness continues today. After Hensel sought training from ASM last year, she wanted to bring it to leaders in this area. Months of prayer, preparation, and long travel days followed.
Thanks to your help, these local leaders are now equipped in Bible Engagement methods to share Scripture in ways that can be remembered, retold, and multiplied. They say these tools will help them carry God’s Word into neighboring villages that outsiders cannot reach.
Thank you for bringing this answer to prayer. God is strengthening these courageous leaders to carry the Gospel even farther.
