God’s Word is transforming lives—and sometimes, the journey of an audio Bible is just as amazing as the impact it can make at the destination! Recently, ASM Partners Kent and Susan shared an unforgettable experience from their trip through an airport in Sub-Saharan Africa.
As their luggage went through the scanners, a security officer stopped and asked with a knowing look, “Do you have audio Bibles?” Surprised, Kent and Susan held their breath, wondering what the officer’s recognition might mean.
Their concern subsided when they noticed the officer’s inquiry was accompanied by a big smile.
They learned that the officers were already familiar with “the airport audio Bibles.” In fact, on an earlier occasion, another Gospel Partner had already given several of them as gifts. “Sooo cool!” Susan shared, “My first thought was, ‘Oh no!’ – I thought they might confiscate them,” but instead, the authorities “were excited to see us with them!”
This moment highlighted the joy of walking in God’s plan, following His leading with appointments even along the way. Thanks to years of dedicated work by Gospel Partners, the airport staff knew personally about the life-changing hope God’s Word in audio can bring.
From that airport, the audio Bibles continued their journey across borders and great distances to bring God’s Word to a group of orphans hungry for hope and encouragement. Hearing the Bible in their heart language gives an irreplaceable reminder of God’s love and His promises, for these children facing difficult circumstances, and for the many in the refugee camp who do not read.
Kent noted that the cost of an audio Bible in that region is comparable to a printed one—and anyone can use the audio Bible, regardless of their educational level. Audio Bibles in multiple languages can help bring the hope of the Gospel to every person in difficult circumstances like those faced by these refugees!
