Adaw’s Story

“It’s MY language!”

Tears streamed down Adaw’s face as she realized the audio Bible was playing God’s Word in Dinka Bor—her heart language.

Adaw is the care worker assigned to Paul, dad of Tara Rye (ASM Bible Engagement Director). When Tara’s mom, Kathy, learned that Adaw spoke Dinka Bor, she wondered if an audio Bible might be available in that language. Tara reached out to Jonathan, ASM Resource Department Coordinator, and he quickly loaded a device and sent it their way.

As the Bible played, the room fell quiet. Then Adaw gasped, overcome with emotion. “It’s MY language!” she said through tears. Tara recalls, “We were all crying after she started crying. It took her a moment to realize, and then it hit.” That sacred moment will stay with their family forever.

This is the power of God’s Word in someone’s heart language. It comforts, transforms, and reminds them that they are seen and known by God.

Later, Adaw came back to request another device — this time for a family member. “This is good. It will help others!” Adaw said.

Thank you for helping make moments like this possible.
