The Light Shines in the Darkness

“Everyone who follows Jesus, stay right there!” the witch doctor commanded.

She still wanted ASM’s Compassionate Care (CC) Team to come and help care for her sick sister-in-law–but not to come too close. She later stated, angrily, that the demons have started leaving her and she’s having trouble “getting business” now.

Dara Vanden Bosch, ASM Compassionate Care Coordinator, told her yet again, “We’re praying for you!” and encouraged her to repent and turn to Jesus, today.

“The light shines in the darkness,” the Apostle John proclaimed, “and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5, NIV).

Our ASM teams in Mozambique, led by Chad and Dara Vanden Bosch, feel the weight of spiritual need and oppression surrounding their area.

Witchcraft, spiritual deception, and great physical needs are prevalent. People need that light of the Gospel!

In the midst of these challenges, the Light of Christ is shining, as God’s Word is going forth in love. Dara recently shared how she was moved to see Jesus work through Rabeca, a CC team member, as Rabeca sat with a woman in pain and held her as she cried.  “It’s easy to see God’s presence when someone acts like Jesus.”

Praise God for the ways that the ASM team in Mozambique reflects the Light of Christ by their very presence. Modeling faithful stewardship in the midst of drought, flooding, and staffing difficulties, the team at New Harvest Farm share their hope in the sustaining power of Christ. While serving those facing great sorrow and chronic pain, the Compassionate Care Team shows the never ceasing love of God by serving the community’s most vulnerable.

We praise God for His working through these integral mission efforts. We also celebrate that despite recording challenges, the team has completed the several-year process of the recording of the Old Testament in Makua of Nampula. Praise God for how your prayers and support are carrying His Word forward, shining His Light into the lives of those hungry for hope!
